Overview

The G3242H-FF displays use R.C.F. ( Retardation Control Film ) to give the display a high contrast ratio and a true "black-and-white" color. The high-intensity backlight together with the efficient light guide gives bright, even illumination across the complete display.

The large dot-pitch and the slim-line design of only 8.0mm makes the display ideally suited to industrial control applications. The high contrast, high brightness image is easy to read from a wide viewing angle. These and other attributes combine to give:

Super-high contrast true "black-and-white" image

Clear, bright, easy-to-read image

Fast response time which also gives more gray scales

Compact, light-weight and robust design.

Connection Details

The G3242H-FF has an integrated F.F.C. ( flat-film cable ) protruding from the right-hand side of the display. This can also be folded underneath or behind the display. A suitable F.F.C. connector with a 1.25mm connector pitch will be required.

In addition to the data connector, there are two 150mm long backlight leads, terminated with open wire ends. Backlight leads should be kept as short as possible.

An "inverter" will be needed to power the backlight. The inverter takes the 5v or 12v power signal and converts it to a high frequency, high voltage, low current supply for the backlight.

Contrast Control Voltages

The G3242H-FF display has two input terminals for the main LCD drive voltage. The VEE pin should be held at a constant voltage of about -28v relative to VDD.

The VO pin is then adjusted to provide the contrast voltage by means of a potential divider. A typical contrast voltage is 24.2v. Resistors should be linked in series with the variable resistor to constrain the selectable voltages to a sensible, usable range. The total resistance should be between 10K and 20K.

This form of drive voltage avoids the need for a constant current power source for the display.
